Booking a session with your dog is such an exciting experience—one that results in beautiful, meaningful portraits you’ll treasure forever. If you’re wondering how to pose with your pup, or just want some ideas, I’ve put together five classic poses that always work beautifully. Don’t worry—you don’t need to train your dog to perfection! Having these poses in mind can help you feel more prepared and inspired for the day. So here's 5 of my photoshoot pose ideas to get you started.

1.Down To Their Level

Simple but effective. Crouch down, kneel or sit down at your dogs level. This creates a more intimate portrait and removes the ' disjointed' feel you can sometimes get when standing up if your dog is down by your feet.

2.Kisses!

Yep- smooch that pup! (As long as your dog is comfortable of course!) Theres nothing cuter than a dogs face when they are getting love and attention from their favourite human(s).

3.Pick up cuddles

This is another idea to make a portrait feel more intimate, it's great for puppies and small dogs but makes a super fun photo for bigger dogs too- again make sure your pooch is comfortable with this.

4.Hands on

If you aren't sure about being in the photos yourself but want to showcase your bond with your dog, these close up hand shots are perfect! A chin scratch on a paw hold can show your love for your dog without pulling focus from your pup.

5.Candid Moments

Let's face it, nothing beats the pure, unposed moments with your dog. The unposed smiles, laughter and genuine candid moments, not only create beautiful portraits but they also capture authentic memories you will remember.

I hope these ideas spark some inspiration for your next photoshoot with your pup! Whether you’re snapping pictures at home or working with a pro, the most important thing is to have fun and capture your dog’s unique personality.

Happy snapping!
